No Sew Fleece Blanket

It's that time of year again... Autumn is here and the Holidays are just around the corner.  Fall is my favorite time of year where the air starts to get crisp, the house is decorated with festive pumpkins and scented candles, and Christmas shopping begins!

A few years ago, I started making the "No Sew" blankets for friends and family.  Sometimes it's hard to buy the perfect gift for someone and I have found that these are BEST gift to give!  I have friends who bring them over for movie nights, relatives who keep them in their living room, and I use mine almost every night when catching up on my favorite TV shows.

Today I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics because their fleece was 40% off and I needed to make a new blanket to match our new home.  I thought I'd walk you through the process of making a "No Sew" blanket if you wanted to make one!

How to Make a "No Sew" Blanket:

1. Go to a fabric store and purchase 2 yards of  both a printed fleece and a "no peel" solid fleece fabric.

2. Cut off the edges of the fabric that aren't part of the pattern or do not have fleece on them.

3. Lay the solid fleece flat, most fuzzy side down, on the ground and lay the patterned fleece on top of the solid piece.  Make sure the edges are aligned.

4.  The fabric should be in a rectangle on the ground.  It's time to cut the corners...You may have noticed that the fabric is more stretchy one direction than the other.  The edges on the longer sides are more stretchy than the edges on the shorter sides. Measure a 6 x 5 inch rectangle on each corner and cut and remove fabric.

My fabric is laying long ways, left to right.

5. Now, cut 1.5 inch strips along each side.  The longer sides of the rectangle will have 5 inch deep strips and the shorter sides of the rectangle will have 6 inch deep strips.

6. Once you have cut strips all the way around the fabric, it's time to begin tying knots.  I prefer to do a "loop" knot (keeping both fabrics on top of the other and looping it around my finger into a knot), rather than a "double knot" (separating the fabrics and tying them together with two knots).  Tie the knots all the way around the fabric edges...

7.  Once you have tied all of the strips into knots, pull on the edges of the fabric to stretch the knots away from each other, and VIOLA! You just created a No Sew Blanket!

Menu Planner

Thanks to Pinterest, I now have several projects I want to attempt.  This was the first; a Menu Board!

What You Need:
(2) Collage Frames with four 5x7 frames attached - Walmart $11.98 each
(4) Pages of 10x10 in. Scrapbook Paper (I found mine at Michael's for $0.29-$0.59 each)
(1) Wet Erase Marker - Black

What You Do:
1. Cut the paper for each picture, you should be able to fill 2 pictures from 1 sheet of scrapbook paper.
2. Arrange the paper how you prefer, and place in each of the frames.
3. Hang the frames, starting with the bottom of the two.  Be sure you hang them the right direction with the flat edge on each side. Repeat for the top frame.
4. Write what you'd like on the glass!
